Eastern Washington University Athletics does all it can to reach out to the community. By volunteering and giving back to Cheney and the surrounding populations, EWU student-athletes gain valuable leadership skills while also providing a positive influence on members of the community. Below is a list of various community service efforts from the 2013-14 academic year. Athletic Department

  • Eastern helped hand out 4,000 backpacks and school supplies to local area children alongside the Salvation Army | Photo Gallery (Aug. 16, 2013)




  • Members of the men's tennis team participated in a trash pick-up alongside the Cheney Public Works Department in areas of downtown Cheney | Photo Gallery (Oct. 25, 2013)

Women's Golf

  • Members of the team spent the day helping out the folks at Cancer Care Northwest at an event that helps raise funds to assist cancer patients as they are receiving treatments. Assistance that may be provided by the CCNW Foundation include financial support for basic necessities such as transportation, prescriptions, groceries and rent, counseling for children and families and community resource referrals. Cross Country/Track & Field

  • Members of the cross country team helped out at the Spokane Elementary School Cross Country Championships held at Comstock Park in Spokane.  Members of the team helped set up the course, lead the way, and helped clean up | Photo Gallery (Oct. 24, 2013)

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

The following community service activities were organized by Eastern Washington University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and involve all EWU athletic teams. SAAC is a committee made up of student-athletes that aims at enhancing the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
