Cheney, Wash. – Senior volleyball student-athlete Kelsey Julian and senior football student-athlete Blair Bomber have been selected by the Eastern Washington University Athletics Department as the September Scholar-Athletes of the Month, announced Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Julian is a health and fitness major with a 3.87 grade point average after graduating from Kennewick High School in Kennewick, Wash. Bomber sports a 3.94 grade point average as an interdisciplinary studies major after graduating from Lynden High School in Lynden, Wash.
Julian is off to a strong start this season for EWU Volleyball, leading the team with an average of 2.77 kills per set while swinging at a .304 clip, a mark that ranks ninth in the Big Sky. She has played a vital role in the program’s best start since 2006, notching double-digit kills in four matches so far this season. Her 14 kills and seven digs led the Eagles to a five-set comeback win over NC State on Aug. 29.
Bomber was key to EWU Football’s season-opening victory over Sam Houston State on Aug. 23, catching a pair of touchdown passes. He currently ranks fifth on the team with eight catches and 81 receiving yards, good for an average of 10.1 yards per reception.
