Eagle Academics Mission Statement
Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) values diversity, creativity and balance in the life-long development of the student-athletes that represent Eastern Washington University. The student centered philosophy of the department is meant to create an open and inviting environment by providing a holistic student support program. The Eagle Academic advising staff focuses on inspiring all student-athletes to achieve their desired personal, educational, athletic and career goals. The atmosphere stresses a community of learners that support one another and provides every student the chance to reach their full potential through a proactive partnership with other university support services. We are one component of many here to help you meet the departmental expectations of earning your Eastern degree, becoming a leader, and performing at the highest level in your sport.
Academic Advising Policy
All students must meet with one of the staff members in Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) before their athletic hold will be removed allowing you to register. Juniors and seniors should meet with their designated faculty advisor and if you do not know whom that is or do not have one then please see Student Athlete Academics Services, we will direct you to the appropriate person. First years and sophomores will be required to either attend an advising session or schedule an independent advising appointment with SAAS.
All student athletes have priority registration which is in place to help student athletes create course schedules that will accommodate for practice times and travel for competition. It is your responsibility to register on the very first day. If you encounter an issue then please contact a staff member in Student Athlete Academic Services.
