Most of the EWU Sports and Recreation Center was built in the
mid-70s and is considered one the finest multipurpose facilities on
the West Coast. In fact, the Seattle Seahawks have utilized the
facility as its preseason training camp home for most of the
team’s existence. The project consisted of five phases
– physical education classroom/offices, activities building,
fieldhouse, special events pavilion and swimming pool. The complex
includes acres of practice fields, including EWU’s soccer
facility. And a new tennis facility was completed in time for the
2005-06 season. A red synthetic turf was installed in 2010 and is
the first of its kind in the nation at Roos Field.
