Chris Thomas and Mandy Daniels have been selected by the Eastern Washington University athletics department as its Scholar-Athletes for the month of November.
Football player Thomas is majoring in biology/pre-medicine and started all 11 games for the Eagles this year in his first full year as a starter. He has started a total of 18 contests in his career, which will be the most for an EWU offensive lineman in 2009.
The junior earned honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference honors and was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII football team. Thomas will be named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the third-straight year when that team is announced in January.

Daniels is in the process of finishing up a degree in business marketing and recently wrapped up her volleyball career with school records in digs per set in a career (4.49) and in a single season (4.89).
The native of Spokane, Wash., also put together three 30-dig performances this year to go with two in 2007 for five in her career (there have been only 16 such performances in EWU annals).
A 34-dig output in a 3-1 win over Sacramento State on Nov. 21 set a school record in a four-set match and was the third-highest total in a contest of any length in Eastern Washington history.
