To qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 GPA and participate in at least half of the team's competitions

A total of 40 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for winter quarter 2011. Of the total, 14 were from the men's track and field team, 14 came from the women's squad, seven were from women's basketball and five men's basketball players were honored.

To qualify for the team, student-athletes need a 3.20 accumulative grade point average or better at EWU and met the requirement of playing in at least half of the team's competitions.

Now with fall and winter quarter complete, a total of 90 EWU student-athletes have earned the honor thus far in the 2010-11 school year. A total of 50 were honored for fall quarter 2010. Of the total, 18 were from football, 11 from volleyball, 10 from women's soccer, eight from women's cross country and three from men's cross country.

The Eagles are the reigning champions of the Sterling Savings Bank Big Sky Conference Presidents’ Cup, which is unique in collegiate athletics in that it reinforces the league’s dedication to the academic side of the student-athlete experience. The winner of this award is determined by overall athletic success combined with team grade point averages, graduation rates, and All-Conference performers with grade point averages of at least 3.0.
