Jacksonville, Fla. - Augie Hernandez, Eastern Washington University’s Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Services, has been recognized by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association as the District 8 Equipment Manager of the Year, as announced by the organization last week.
Hernandez was one of three individuals nominated by the member schools of District 8, which includes universities in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Canada.
“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by my peers in District 8,” Hernandez said. “For me, this is a team award and my assistant and student staff also deserve credit for providing great service to our student-athletes, coaches and staff. I am thankful to lead a team that represents Eastern Washington University with pride and class every day.”
Founded in 1974, the AEMA is the official association for professional athletic equipment managers. The organization’s membership consists of recreational, physical education, high school, college and professional athletic equipment managers.
Hernandez has served as the Eagles’ head equipment manager since January of 2007 and has been an AEMA certified equipment manager since 2008.
