@EWUAthletics Wins SoMe Award For Best Mobile Centric Campaign

Portland, Ore. – The Eastern Washington University athletics department took home the “ET Phone Home” SoMe Award for the best social utilization within a mobile centric campaign at the sixth annual SoMe Awards on Thursday, May 22.

The campaign, “It’s Game Day on Snapchat!” was also a finalist in the “Breaking Social” category.

“I’m excited to be able to receive this award on behalf of the social media team at Eastern,” said Kyle Bruce, Assistant Sports Information Director and Social Media Coordinator for EWU Athletics. “We worked hard on the strategic aspects of the campaign – finding the right metrics and creating a storyboard that would engage students with our events. It’s been a fun and worthwhile channel for us to help a younger audience get excited about our game experiences.”

The campaign was EWU Athletics’ inaugural Snapchat campaign chronicling the Eagles’ FCS quarterfinal playoff game against Jacksonville State back on Dec. 14. Eastern was one of the first in the nation to use Snapchat in college athletics. The campaign used groundbreaking strategies to measure user engagement and fan input.

EWU partnered with CKSyme Media Group in Bozeman, Montana, to build the strategy and goals for the campaign.

The CKSyme Media Group claimed the SoMe Award for “Best Social Media Agency 2014” for the same campaign.
