Deyo Named Big Sky Conference Track Athlete of the Week

Eagle men rank fifth, while the women are sixth in the Big Sky Conference Indoor Preseason Poll

Krystal Deyo of the Eastern Washington University track and field team received the first Big Sky Conference Track Athlete of the Week honor in the 2010 season for her performance on Dec. 5 at the EWU Candy Cane Invitational.

Deyo qualified for the Big Sky Conference Championships in the 60 meters, meeting the standard with a time of 7.06 in the 55 meters. She also qualified for the conference championships in the long jump with an effort of 18-7 3/4.

Last year at the conference championships, Deyo set two school records in the 60 meters and the long jump. Deyo had a time of 7.55 in the 60 meters and in the long jump she had a mark of 19-2 3/4.

The Eagle men are placed to finish fifth (47 points) in the league's recently released preseason poll, with the women placed sixth (36). Northern Arizona's men and women are picked to win back-to-back championships.

Eastern will travel to Pullman for the WSU Open on Jan. 15-16.
