Results

Brad Wall and Erica Chaney from the Eastern Washington University track and field teams powered through California's rainy conditions to win their events at the Stanford Invitational Friday (March 25).

Just a month after winning the indoor 400 with a new school-record time, Wall opened his outdoor season with a Big Sky Conference qualifying time of 47.88 to win the event. The junior from Vancouver, Wash., is the school-record holder in the 400 meters, which he set last outdoor season when he won the event at the BSC championships in Ogden, Utah. Wall will compete in the 200 meters in tomorrow's competition.

Chaney won the elite section of the shot put with a mark of 48-2 1/2 to qualify her for the conference championships. Last weekend at the Dusty Lane Open, Chaney qualified in the discus throw with a mark of 140-5 to place her second in the meet. The Spokane, Wash., native placed first in the weight throw and second in the shot put at the indoor conference championships.

Two-time BSC champion in the javelin, Aaron Mettler qualified in the event with a mark of 199-10 to place him fourth in the elite section of the meet.

Senior Krystal Deyo qualified in the 100 meters with a time of 12.18. Tomorrow, Deyo will join Kanisha Calcote, Brianna Okoro and Whitney Leavitt for the 4x100-meter relay.

Saturday's schedule will feature a number of field events at 9 a.m. Running events will also begin at 9 a.m., with the women's 4x100-meter relay.
