New Mexico State:  Chavez finished seventh overall and third for NM State at the Lobo Invitational with a time of 19:09.5 and finished seventh overall at the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational. Chavez also ran strong in the Kachina Classic, placing 13th overall with a time of 19:12.  In the Grand Canyon Invitational (Oct. 6), Chavez finished third for NM State and ninth overall with a time of 19:03.5.  She finished 46th at the WAC Championships, running a time of 19:07.17. Chavez concluded the season at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships when she finished fourth for NM State with a time of 23:56.8 in the 6,000. In track, her best times came in the 800 (2:25.92), 1,500 (5:01.24), mile (5:38.97), 3,000 (10:46.04) and 5,000 (18:33.80). She was named to the WAC All-Academic team.

High School: Chavez was a top-20 finisher in each of her three appearances at the WIAA 4A State Cross Country Championships. Her best finish came during her senior year when she placed sixth in a personal-best time of 18:25.6. She was also 11th as a junior and 13th as a sophomore. She helped Eisenhower to a state title in 2010 and a second-place finish in 2011. In track, she competed at state twice in both the 1,600 and 3,200. She finished seventh in the 1,600 as a sophomore, running her personal best of 5:05.01.

Personal: Intends to major in pre-law. Born 2/2/94 in Yakima, Wash. Her parents are Jesus Chavez and Maria Aguilar.
