King finishes second at the Clash of the Inland Northwest to earn honors for the first time
Kyle King of the Eastern Washington cross country team was named Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week after he finished second at the Clash of the Inland Northwest on Sept. 5 in Spokane, Wash.
King, a sophomore from Coupeville, Wash., covered the 6,000-meter course with a time of 20:28. He helped his team finish 3-0 in the four-team dual scoring meet. Last season, he finished ninth with a time of 19.59.
"Kyle had a great run on Saturday," said head cross country coach Chris Zeller. "He put in a solid summer and is feeling like his running is real smooth right now. He was very humbled by the honor of being named Big Sky Athlete of the Week."
King finished 15th at the Big Sky Conference Championships last season in Portland, Ore., with a time of 24.34. He went on to finish 157th at the NCAA West Regionals in Stanford, Calif., with a time of 33:52.
