Earlywine on Ederaine: “Cliff brings us length and athletic ability on the front line. He was the defensive player in his league and when he plays hard is a very good defender, rebounder and shot blocker. We need Cliff to play to his athletic ability -- we need him to be an athlete on the floor. He has the tendency to kind of over-analyze things and play slower than what he should. We need him to be a terrific runner, defender, rebounder and shot blocker.”

Junior College: Played two seasons at the College of the Sequoias. He earned first team all-conference honors and was his league’s most valuable defensive player as sophomore. He helped COS finish 23-7 after falling to Yuba in the first round of the Northern California junior college basketball playoffs. He was coached at COS by Rusty Smith, who played at Montana State and was an Eastern assistant coach in the early 1990’s under head coach John Wade.

High School: Graduated from Canyon Springs High School in 2008. As a senior, he earned All-Inland Valley League honors and was his team’s MVP. He averaged 11.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.6 blocked shots, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game in helping the Cougars finish 17-11 overall and 5-3 in league play. He had 10 double-doubles, four times he had at least 17 rebounds and four times he had seven or more blocks. He had season highs with 21 points and nine blocked shots in one game in which he also had 11 boards. He had a season-high of 18 rebounds in one game, and in another game he finished with 17 boards and 16 points. He scored in double figures 14 times and in rebounding on 15 occasions. As a junior, he helped Canyon Springs finish with a 14-12 overall record and 6-2 league mark. He also earned all-league honors in track and field at Canyon Springs.
