Earlywine on Brown: “The addition of Rocky continued the rebuilding of our front line with another player with length who can play and defend multiple positions. He has a terrific motor, an aggressive personality, and the ability to score in the paint and at the free throw line. Rocky comes from a winning program and was instrumental in the success of his team – both of which added to how much we like him. Also, the fact that he was very well-coached in high school by a former college coach will quicken his transition to playing Division I basketball.”
High School: Graduated from Central High School in 2010. Brown led Central in points (20.2), rebounds (7.3), steals (3.5) and blocks (3.1) as a senior to lead the Grizzlies to a 21-5 record. He was a two-time selection on the Fresno Bee All-Star Team as he helped lead his team to the Tri-River Athletic Conference title in 2009-10. As a junior, Brown earned All-Tri-River Athletic Conference honors after averaging 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals while powering the 22-9 Grizzlies to a second-place finish in the league. He was coached at Central by Loren LeBeau, who previously was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I schools Fresno State and Pepperdine.
Personal: Born Dec. 18, 1991 in Sacramento, Calif. Undecided on a major. His full name is Rakim Dominic Brown. Parents are Carl and Michelle Goodman.
