Jim Hayford on Kelly: “Parker is a team captain and he has the most experience of all of the players in the program. Both seasons Parker has been able to shoot over 40 percent from three-point-range. He had some very strong games at the conclusion of the conference season where he was scoring over 20 points. We need Parker to rebound more this year, and as his all-around game develops, he should have an outstanding junior year.”

Career: Kelly is currently ranked seventh in school history in career 3-point percentage (.419) and his 55 3-pointers in the 2012-13 season ranks 13th. He will serve as one of the team’s co-captains in the 2013-14 season.

2012:13: Was one of a school-record nine Eagles to be selected to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. Kelly averaged 13.6 points in his last eight games, including a new career high with 28 points in EWU’s 87-73 win at Idaho State (3/7/13). Kelly had 22 of his points in the second half and made a career-high six 3-pointers. His previous scoring high was 19 in EWU’s come-from-behind 77-74 overtime win over Northern Arizona (2/9/13). Versus NAU, Kelly’s 3-pointer with 15 seconds left in regulation and a subsequent defensive stop by the Eagles helped send the game into overtime tied at 66. Kelly averaged 11.0 points per game in his last 25 games (10.3 average in league play) after scoring just 10 in the first five games he played. He started 17 of the 28 games he played in the 2012-13 season, and finished the year averaging 9.5 points and 1.0 assists per game, while making a team-leading 55-of-137 3-point shots for 40.1 percent.

2011-12: Kelly came off the bench in 30 of the 31 games he played, and made the first start of his career at Idaho State (2/23/12). He received significant minutes late in the year as he continued to adjust to the college game. Kelly averaged 8.3 points per game in EWU’s last 10 games, including two with 17 and one in which he hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 14 seconds to play. He averaged 19.5 minutes in conference play and 15.8 minutes per game overall, and had an average of 6.5 points in the league on 27-of-56 shooting from the 3-point arc (48 percent). Overall, he averaged 4.8 points and made 44.9 percent of his 3-point attempts (34-of-77) to rank fourth in the Big Sky Conference. He also made 91 percent of his free throws (21-of-23). Kelly scored in double figures in six games, and led Eastern in rebounds once and steals in four games. Kelly was among the nation’s leaders in efficiency, according to the web site statsheet.com. Kelly ranked third in NCAA Division I in “offensive rating” based on his shooting percentages and production in limited minutes. If his statistics were calculated on the basis of playing a full 40-minute game, Kelly would have scored at an 11.9 clip. In the first start of his career against Idaho State (2/23/12), he helped replace some of the scoring lost with the absence of injured leading scorer Collin Chiverton. He responded by equaling his career-high with 17 points, making 5-of-7 3-pointers as EWU finished with 10 as a team. Kelly scored 11 points in a 78-73 loss at UC Irvine (2/18/12) in the ESPN BracketBusters. One game earlier versus Northern Colorado (2/15/12), he scored nine second-half points on a trio of 3-pointers, including a game-winning trey with 14 seconds left in the come-from-behind 79-76 victory. In the game before that, Kelly scored a career-high 17 points in EWU’s 84-75 loss at Weber State (2/11/12). Kelly, whose previous high was 12 on two occasions, made 6-of-10 shots from the field, including 5-of-8 from the 3-point arc versus the Wildcats. Earlier in the league season, Kelly equaled his season high with 12 points against Northern Colorado (1/14/12), and had eight points in 21 minutes in EWU’s 69-52 victory over Montana State (1/28/12). He followed that with 11 second-half points against Northern Arizona (2/2/12), as the Eagles rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to win 74-68. Down the stretch, Kelly made a basket with 4:06 remaining to put the Eagles up by seven, then made a trey with 1:18 to play to enable EWU to maintain a six-point advantage. He then knocked down 4-of-4 free throws in the final 51 seconds to ice the win for the Eagles.

High School: Graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 2011, helping his school accumulate a 73-11 overall record and 45-5 league mark in three seasons. He helped lead the Bullpups to the 2011 State 4A Championship, as they were 23-3 after finishing the Greater Spokane League season with a 14-2 record. Gonzaga Prep defeated Curtis 61-41 for the title after knocking off Garfield (66-53), Kentridge (72-60) and Davis (72-59) in earlier rounds. Kelly scored 24 points in the title game and earned second-team All-State Tournament honors. He finished the four-game tourney with an average of 21.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, making 13-of-22 3-pointers (59 percent) and 54 percent of his shots overall (54 percent). Selected to play in the All-State Game, Kelly averaged more than 18 points per game as a senior en route to earning first-team All-Greater Spokane League honors. He had a season-high 29 points in Gonzaga Prep’s 71-53 win against North Central. He made 7-of-14 3-pointers in that game, including 5-of-7 in the first half. Gonzaga Prep was 24-4 overall and 13-1 in the league his junior season when the Bullpups won one of three games in the state tournament. They also qualified his sophomore season, finishing 3-1 to place fourth and concluding the year with a record of 26-4 overall and 18-2 in the league. He was a second-team pick as a junior and earned all-regional tournament honors as well.

Personal: Born Sept. 27, 1992, in Spokane, Wash. Marketing management major. He is the son of Terry and Cyndi Kelly. His father had his No. 44 basketball jersey retired by Gonzaga Prep, as he averaged 26.2 points per game his senior year in 1976 to lead the Spokane City League in scoring. He was the league’s player of the year after leading the Bullpups to a third-place finish at the State AAA Tournament. He went on to Washington State University where he started 80 straight games at one stretch and led the Cougars to the 1980 NCAA tournament.
