Eastern Games to Air on 700 ESPN The Ticket
Eastern Washington University and KXLY Radio Group have reached a radio agreement to have all home and away EWU football and men’s basketball games broadcast live on 700 ESPN The Ticket. The official announcement will be made today at 3:25 on the Patchin, Osso and the Wingman radio show.

In the second version of the “Showdown on the Sound,” the Eastern Washington University versus Central Washington University football game on Sept. 11 will be played at Qwest Field in Seattle. Kickoff has been set for 6 p.m. with the two schools co-hosting the event.

“Turfbreaking” Begins Excavation Work for Red Turf Project
On Monday (June 14), ceremonial shovels will be replaced with bulldozers, backhoes, loaders and dump trucks. The official start of Eastern Washington University’s Red Turf project began under sensational blue skies Saturday (June 12) with a “turfbreaking” ceremony at Woodward Field on the EWU campus in Cheney, Wash.

With the impending installation of red synthetic turf that included a $500,000 contribution made by Michael and Katherine Roos, Eastern Washington University’s football field in Cheney, Wash., will be re-named to “Roos Field” this fall. The turf project is expected to commence this summer upon successful completion of the fundraising effort on behalf of the initiative.

Road Game at Nevada Helps Finalize 2010 Schedule
The 2010 schedule for the Eastern Washington University football team is nearly complete, as a season-opening road game at Nevada will fill the 11th and final game on its schedule, EWU athletic director Bill Chaves has announced. The schedule includes six home games, but whether five or six of them take place at Woodward Field in Cheney, Wash., has yet to be determined.
