2010: Will play college football for the first time after moving from the Eagle basketball team to the football team. As a junior in the 2009-10 season, he started 14 of 23 games and averaged 2.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in an average of 16.4 minutes per game. He scored a season-high 11 points against Texas Arlington (11/21/09) and had 15 rebounds versus Walla Walla (12/1/09). His rebounding performance was the second best for an Eagle all season.
Junior College: While a basketball player at College of the Siskiyous in California, Gibbs was a California Community College Athletic Association first team All-State selection in the 2008-09 season. He averaged 17.0 points with a high game of 32 as a sophomore, to go along with averages of 11.1 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game to rank second in the CCCAA. He had 150 offensive rebounds and more than 40 dunks in 30 games, earning first team All-Golden Valley Conference honors. Gibbs averaged 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.5 steals as a freshman, including three double-doubles with a high scoring output of 25 points. He led the school to a 22-12 record in 2008-09 after a 9-20 finish the year before.
High School: Graduated from Canarsie HS in 2007. He helped lead his basketball team to the semifinals of the 2006 A Division Playoffs in New York, losing 67-62 to the eventual champion with a berth in the championship game at Madison Square Garden on the line. The team finished 21-3 overall and 15-1 in league play to advance to the semifinals of the Brooklyn Boro Playoffs.
