He earned first-team All-State honors from the Oregonian as both a punter and kicker, and was a first-team All-Metro League selection at both positions as well. He nearly set a state record by making 12 field goals as a senior, coming just one from the record of 13 set by Sheldon's Luke Bellotti in 2002. Kerkar also made 14 extra points and averaged 49.3 yards on 39 kickoffs with 27 touchbacks. As a punter, he averaged 35.8 yards per punt with a long of 53. In a 26-23 victory over Sunset, Kerkar made 4-of-6 field goals, connecting from 34, 36, 44 and 42 yards. In the process, his four field goals tied a state of Oregon record that Enterprise's Bo Crawford originally set in 1988. Kerkar made field goals of 41, 25 and 51 yards in a 30-16 loss to Westview, as his 51-yarder in the fourth quarter tied for the fifth-longest in state history. Sunset's Paul Burton holds the state record for the longest field goal with a 55-yard kick in 1991. As a junior, Kerkar earned honorable-mention All-Metro League honors after making one field goal and 10 extra points. He averaged 45.8 yards per kickoff with five touchbacks.
