2012: Listed as a reserve at weak-side outside linebacker on preseason depth chart. Moved from the secondary to linebacker in the spring.

2011: Played sparingly but earned a letter. Moved from quarterback to defensive back in the spring, duplicating the same path that Jeff Minnerly followed exactly a year earlier.

2010: Did not play, but was an integral part of EWU’s offense as he was responsible for signaling plays to the huddle in EWU’s fast-paced offensive attack. He completed 10-of-13 passes (76.9 percent) for 140 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the two spring scrimmages he played in.

2009: He played in two games, including against California (9/12/09) when he completed both of the passes he attempted for seven yards. Those were the only attempts of his career as he was the only player returning in 2010 with any EWU game experience at quarterback, other than converted safety Jeff Minnerly.

2008: Redshirted. Was the EWU’s scout team offensive player of the week once.

HS: Graduated from Centennial HS in 2008. As a senior, he earned second team All-State honors, was the regional offensive player of the year and played in the Arizona versus Mexico All-Star Game. Burgett completed 55 percent of his passes (109-of-200) for 2,017 yards and 26 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He quarterbacked Centennial High School to a 13-1 record and a second-straight 5A Division II championship as a senior. He also rushed for 285 yards and eight scores. His top performance of the year came in a 48-0 victory over Sunrise Mountain when he passed for 279 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior, he had a completion rate of 62 percent (119-of-191) to finish with 1,803 yards, 26 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He had 261 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-0 rout of Sunnyside to complete a perfect 14-0 season and win the 5A Division II title. In two seasons on the varsity team, he helped lead the Coyotes to a 27-1 record. Personal: Exercise science major. Born 10/10/89 in Phoenix, Ariz. Will turn 23 on Senior Day against UC Davis. Last name is pronounced “bur-get.”
