One sportswriter is calling it the “The Bo and his Bro Show.” Former Eastern Washington University football wide receiver Cory Mitchell will reunite with his younger brother after Mitchell signed a free agent contract last week with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

Tevin McDonald Signs Free Agent Contract with Oakland, Which Already Has Former Eagle Taiwan Jones on its Roster
Former Eastern Washington University safety Tevin McDonald has signed a free agent contract with Oakland of the National Football League and will attend the team’s rookie camp starting today (May 8), the National Football League team announced this morning.

Eagle All-American Jake Rodgers Drafted by Atlanta Falcons
Now that Michael Roos has retired from the National Football League, Jake Rodgers can now take his place. The former Eastern Washington University All-America offensive tackle was taken in the seventh round by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2015 NFL Draft which concluded on Saturday (May 2). The 2010 graduate of Shade Park High School in Spokane, Wash., was the 225th pick overall.

Trio of Quarterbacks Sharp In Red-White Game
The quarterbacks were sharp, and so was the Eagle offense after the defense dominated early. The trio of junior Jordan West and redshirt freshmen Gage Gubrud and Reilly Hennessey completed 84 percent of their passes for 332 yards, as the Eastern Washington University football team concluded its third week of spring practice with the annual Red-White Spring Game Saturday (April 25) at Roos Field, helping bring to an end “Eagle Week” in Cheney, Wash.

Red-White Will Be Scrimmage Format, With Special Teams Mixed In
It will be a scrimmage-based game, but there will be lots of special teams thrown into the mix too. The Eastern Washington University football team will conclude its third week of spring practice with the annual Red-White Spring Game this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Roos Field, helping bring to an end “Eagle Week” in Cheney, Wash. The game will be broadcast on SWX, with Larry Weir providing the play-by-play.

Offense Rolls up 550 Yards in 85-Play Scrimmage
It took two possessions and all of eight plays for the starting offense to top last week’s performance. Led by a 32-of-47 passing performance by four Eastern quarterbacks, Eastern Washington University offensive units rolled up 550 yards in the second football scrimmage of spring practice for the Eagles Saturday (April 18) at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash. Spring practice continues through April 30, with the annual Red-White Spring Game taking place at 2 p.m. on April 25.

Eagles End Second Full Week With Saturday Afternoon Situational Scrimmage
Football is all about situations, and the Eastern Washington will cover a lot of them this Saturday afternoon (April 18) at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles will end their second full week of spring practices with a situational scrimmage, with between 70-80 plays run. The team will hit the field at 2 p.m. and the scrimmage portion will start at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Eagles End First Full Week With Scrimmage on Saturday at Busy Roos Field
It won’t last long, but the Eastern Washington University football team will end its first full week of spring practices with a short scrimmage this Saturday (April 11) at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash. The Eagles will hit the field at 8:30 a.m., then will spend the next two hours with drills and practice. At about 10:30 a.m., the team will scrimmage for about 30 plays.

The firepower of the Hoyas was hard to match by the Eagles. The Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team was outscored 33-6 in a 12 1/2 minute stretch spanning the first and second halves and fell to Georgetown 84-64 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday (March 19) at the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

Former Eagle Michael Roos Retires After 10-Year NFL Career as a Three-Time All-Pro
Roos Field will probably see a little more of Michael Roos now. The former Eastern Washington University and Tennessee Titans offensive tackle announced his retirement from the National Football League on Thursday (Feb. 26) after his 10th season as a pro was ended by a knee injury last Oct. 5 that required surgery. He earned All-Pro accolades in 2008, 2010 and 2011, and started in the Pro Bowl in February of 2009.

Eastern Football & Other Sports Will Be in KHQ Studios TONIGHT Raising Money for Special Olympics
Members of the Eastern Washington University football program and other sports will man telephones at KHQ Television in Spokane TONIGHT (Feb. 10) from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to raise funds for Special Olympics and the upcoming “Polar Plunge.” The players will take calls live on television from viewers and collect credit card contributions towards Special Olympics Washington. For every $50 earned, one student-athlete will be rewarded with a plunge into the frigid waters of Liberty Lake on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Familiarity – and success and tradition – helped the Eastern Washington University football team in the 2015 recruiting season. A total of 69 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for fall quarter 2014. Of the total, 28 were from football, 17 were from women's soccer, nine from volleyball, nine from women's cross country and six from men's cross country.

It was another offensive explosion for the top-ranked Eastern Washington University football team, but it wasn’t all to the credit of junior quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and senior running back Quincy Forte. Plenty of Big Plays and Autographs to Go Around in First Eagle Scrimmage
There were plenty of Eagles to share to load at Eastern Washington University’s football scrimmage Saturday (Aug. 9) at Roos Field, as well as lots of autographs for fans. A large crowd showed up at the unveiling of Eastern’s 2014 schedule poster, and they were rewarded with 409 yards of offense by the Eagles and touchdowns scored by eight different players in the 75-play scrimmage to wrap-up the first full week of preseason practices.
