2007: Listed as a backup at middle linebacker on preseason depth chart. He had a game-high five tackles in EWU's Red-White spring game. In four spring scrimmages, he had 16 tackles. 2006: Lettered as a reserve linebacker and special teams player. He had a season-high seven tackles when he made the first start of his career as an injury replacement for David Eneberg in EWU's season-ending 40-6 win over Idaho State (11/11/06). JC: Played at College of the Siskiyous in California. His brother Zach also played football there. HS: Graduated from Hillsboro HS in 2003. He and his brother Zach both played as running backs and linebackers at Hillsboro, with Jared playing as a slotback on offense. Both earned first team honors on offense and defense as seniors, with Zach also earning honorable mention All-State honors. As juniors in 2001, both earned second team All-Metro honors as running backs. Jared was a second team pick as a linebacker while his brother earned honorable mention at the same position.
