Eagles Earn 6-1 Win Over Idaho State

The Eastern Washington University men's tennis team defeated the Idaho State Bengals to improve to 2-1 in the Big Sky Friday (Feb. 26) at the Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash.

The Eagles won five out of six singles matches and won two of three doubles matches against the winless Bengals. Eastern is now 4-5 overall on the season and is 2-1 in the Big Sky Conference.

Fernando Mussolini, fresh off Big Sky Player of the Week honors, extended his singles winning streak to five matches and is now 8-1 overall on the season.

The Eagles will be in action next on March 4 against local rival Gonzaga. The match will take place at the Thorpe Fieldhouse and will begin at 6 p.m.

"The guys competed well today," said head coach Darren Haworth. "We have the rest of the weekend off for some needed rest and we will start focusing for the match-up with Gonzaga."
