Second-seeded Pannhara Mam recorded two more victories on Sunday (Oct. 1) to win the singles title at the Red Lion Invitational Men's Tennis Tournament at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center.
Mam, a graduate of McKay High School in Salem, Ore., is now 5-0 this season after winning the tourney title. He defeated fourth-seeded Filip Zivkovic of Portland in the semifinals and fifth-seeded Stuart Wing of Montana in the championship match, both in straight sets.
Last year as a freshman, Mam was 12-5 in singles competition. He teamed with Kyle Schraeder for a 12-7 record at No. 1 doubles.
Schraeder, who advanced to the quarterfinals in the Red Lion Invitational, was 2-1 in the tournament with his only loss to top-seeded Alex Strom of Portland. As a team, Eastern was 12-8 in singles competition and 0-4 in doubles in the tournament.
