ITA Women's Regionals Results in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

The Eastern Washington University men's and women's tennis teams competed, and fared well, at the ITA Regionals contested over the weekend. The men played in Las Vegas, Nev., while the women competed in Stanford, Calif.

On the men's side, Nico Riego de Dios had an incredible run through the singles consolation bracket and finished the weekend with a 5-1 record.

In the main draw, he defeated Weber State's Spencer Marchant 6-1, 7-5 before falling to Johnny Parkes of New Mexico, the third seed, by 6-2, 6-4 scores. In the consolation rounds, he defeated Idaho's Taylor Bieberle 6-0, 6-0, Montana's 31st-seeded Mikolaj Borkowski 6-4, 6-1 and Idaho's Robert Chalkley, 6-2, 6-4.

On the women's side, a couple of Eagles singles players advanced to the second round. Amanda Mankovits eliminated San Francisco's Sarah Oudomvilay 6-4, 6-2, and Kelsey Knight outlasted Silvana Dukic of San Jose State 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Players from both the men's and women's teams will take part in the Landings Club Clay Court Invitational, contested from Oct. 31-Nov. 2 in Savannah, Ga.
