Jon Hill will enter his third year as the Eastern Washington University jumps and combined-events coach. He is a USA Track and Field (USATF) level one instructor and level two-certified in long jump, sprints, hurdles and relays. Hill is a USATF certified official and has been a USA Weightlifting sport performance coach for three years.
While coaching at Eastern, Hill has led athletes to break school records nine different times, including the women’s long jump, which has been broken six times. He assisted athletes in entering into EWU’s all-time top ten 27 times. He has coached four conference champions, 16 all-conference award winners and two NCAA regional qualifiers. He helped lead the men’s and women’s teams to top finishes in school history.
Before coming to Eastern, Hill was the head track and field coach for La Salle Catholic College Preparatory, where he assisted in three new school records. He coached three state champions, 17 all-state award winners and 50 all-conference award winners. He led La Salle to its highest finish in men’s team history (third), increased fundraising budget by 315 percent and increased team size by 20 percent.
A former track athlete from Portland State University (PSU), Hill was team captain, competing in the long jump, combined-events, sprints and hurdles.
