2008-09: Outdoors, Mettler defending his Big Sky Conference Champion title in the javelin with a career-best mark of 219-9 to rank fourth in school history. He went on to finish 11th at the NCAA West Regionals with an effort of 202-5. His career-best hammer throw came at the Dusty Lane Open with a mark of 147-7. Indoors, Mettler’s career-best weight throw came at the Runner’s Soul Open with a throw of 45-7 1/4.

2007-08: Outdoors, Mettler’s won the Big Sky Conference Championships in the javelin with a throw of 205-6 and went on to compete at the NCAA West Regionals where he finished 15th with a throw of 200-3. His season-best javelin throw of 207-9 came when he finished second at the Oregon Relays. He had a season-best throw in the hammer of 138-8 to finish ninth at the Vandal Jamboree.
