Paul Limpf Wins 10,000 Meters in Oregon

Paul Limpf and Krystal Deyo of the Eastern Washington University track and field teams qualified for the Big Sky Conference Championships in their respective events Saturday (April 26) on the final day of the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore.

Limpf, who had a first-place finish, qualified for the BSC Championships in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:57.13. That time ranks him third in school history.

Chad Butorac, who has already qualified for the BSC Championships in both the 200 and 400, had a time of 48.33 to finish fourth in the 400. He had a 22.01 time in the 200 to finish 10th.

Geoff Penrod, who qualified earlier this season for the BSC Championships, had a jump of 22-9 3/4 to finish fourth in the long jump.

On the women's side, Deyo qualified for the BSC Championships in the 100 meters with a time of 12.39 to finish seventh.

Shannon Long, who already qualified for the championships, had a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 25.22 to finish seventh.

Bonnie Millard, who already qualified for the BSC Championships, had a season best discus throw of 154-8 to finish second in Eugene, Ore. Her best throw came in 2007 at the BSC Championships with a throw of 155-0 to rank her third in school history.

Shene Davis had a triple jump mark of 38-0 3/4 to rank her fifth in school history.

Other Eagles who finished in the top three after day two included Brody Faire (50-9 1/2/shot put/3rd) and Aimee Carroll (150-5/hammer/1st).

Next week, Eastern squads will split with athletes going to the Bronco Twilight in Boise, Idaho, on May 2, the Steven Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., on May 3 and the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on May 4.

The Big Sky Conference Championships are May 14-17 in Sacramento, Calif.
