Paul Limpf of the Eastern Washington University cross country team was named Big Sky Conference Runner of the Week after finishing second at the Sundodger Invitational Saturday (Sept. 15).
Limpf, a junior from Vancouver, Wash., had a time of 23:46 in the 8,000-meter race to help give his team a third-place finish. He was just 10 seconds behind first-place finisher Jon Harding of Washington (23:36).
Limpf's time was his fastest ever at the 8,000-meter distance as an Eagle. In 2006, his time of 24:46 placed him seventh in the Big Sky Championships. His best run as a freshman was in the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 25, 2005, with a time of 25:11.
At the season-opening Montana Open on Sept. 8, Limpf had a second-place finish in the 5,000 with a time of 15:35. First-place finisher Brett Carter, who ran unattached, had a time of 15:34 to beat Limpf by one second.
Limpf and the EWU cross country team will be competing on Sept. 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
