Oct. 5, 2006

Both the Eastern Washington University men's and women's cross country teams compete next weekend in Cheney, Wash. as the Eagles host the 4th annual EWU Cross Country Invitational Saturday Oct. 14.

The women will start at 10:00 a.m. on a 5000-meter course, followed by the men at 10:30 a.m. on an 8000-meter course.

Gonzaga University, the University of Calgary, Black Feet Community College from Montana and the Washington State University "B" team will all compete in Cheney with the Eagles.

This is the fourth year the event will take place at the EWU Sports and Recreation Center. Previously, the event took place at the Finch Arboretum in Spokane.

On the women's side, the Eagles are led by Camille Moseley (formerly Gibb) who finished 11th at the University of Montana Invitational (Sept. 30).

Last year in the Big Sky Championships the Eagles placed fifth as a team, equaling their best effort. Individually, Mosely finished 12th and Mattie Bridgmon, who finished 13th at Montana, was 30th.

For the EWU men, Paul Limpf finished fourth overall at the Montana Invitational and was the top Eastern runner. Curtis Suver was tenth overall on the 8000m course.

The best finish for the men came last year at the BSC Championships, finishing fourth. Eastern was led by Curtis Suver who placed 13th at that meet and Paul Limpf with an 18th-place finish.

The Big Sky Conference Championships this year will be held in Sacramento, Calif. on Oct. 28.
