2010-11 (At Montana): Played in 32 of Montana’s 33 games in the 2010-11 season, including all three Big Sky Conference Tournament games - all of which were victories for the Lady Griz, as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 24th time in school history. Nelson averaged 14.6 minutes per game as a freshman at UM, and contributed 3.4 points per game on a .343 shooting percentage. She knocked down 11 three-pointers and had 29 assists in her rookie season. Coincidentally, Nelson registered her season-high scoring mark of 14 points against Eastern Washington on Feb. 26 in Missoula. And then when the Lady Griz came to Cheney later in the season, Nelson played a season-high 34 minutes and had a season-high three rebounds. Nelson started six of the first nine games of the 2010-11 season.
High School: Graduated from Butte High School as the all-time leading scorer in Bulldogs history. Was named the 2010 Montana Gatorade Player of the Year and the 2010 Miss Basketball Montana. She was a 2010 McDonalds All-American Nominee. She was a four-time Class AA All-State selection, and four-time All-Conference honoree. She led the Bulldogs to back-to-back (2009-10) runner-up finishes in Class AA Montana State Championships. Was the valedictorian of her graduating class. Member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honors Society.
Personal: Daughter of Robert and Deanna Nelson. Intends to major in exercise science.
