Eagles Come Up Just Short in Sensational Double Overtime Effort against Washington
In true March Madness fashion, the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team left absolutely everything it had on the floor Friday (March 22) night in an epic double-overtime battle against the Huskies of Washington in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. After 50 minutes of blood, sweat and tears, UW managed to escape with a 65-60 win over the Eags at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Wash.

With 1:07 left to play on Thursday (Feb. 28) night in Greeley, Colo., the Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team enjoyed a five-point lead on second-place Northern Colorado. But over the next 67 seconds, a series of unfortunate events unfolded for Eastern, and the Eagles ended up on the losing end of nail-biting Big Sky women’s basketball showdown. The Bears survived on their home floor with 67-66 decision.

Eastern used a 15-0 run late in the second half to surge past the Bobcats, 68-59, for their fifth-consecutive Big Sky win.
