EWU's women's golf team opens up its 2013-14 season Monday and Tuesday at the Bronco Fall Invitational in Kuna, Idaho. Hosted by Boise State, the Eagles will play three rounds at Falcon Crest Golf Club, the first two being Monday, Sept. 16 and the third getting underway the following morning.
"I'm really excited for this season," Eastern head coach Brenda Howe said. "We've had a week's worth of practice is all, and after three qualifying rounds in, a freshman, Hannah Kim, will be in the number one spot this week."
Kim, a native of Renton, Wash., is one of two newcomers to the Eagles this season. The other, Taylor Crandall, is a junior transfer from Palomar College in San Marcos, Calif. The returners from last season include 2012-13 team leader Marissa Borja, who compiled a stroke average of 77.9 per round last season, along with Taylor Anderson, Sara Callagy, Maddie Dodge and Caitilin Rice.
"With this young lineup, I'm excited about the future of this team," added Howe, who enters her fifth year at the helm of the program. "I'm hoping to see a lot of what I saw this week [in practice] in Boise."
