The Eastern Washington University women's golf team played its
second tournament of the spring season - and second in just over a
week - at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Ariz., tying for
15th in the 19-team event.
The best performance by an Eagle in the two-day event that
concluded on Tuesday (April 7) came courtesy of Marli Mikulecky, as
she had a 238 in three rounds of play (78-79-81). She tied for 35th
in the 100-player field.
Kellie
Holmstedt was just three strokes behind her teammate, shooting
a 241 (76-82-83) to tie for the 48th slot. Next was Kristina Gargaro,
who carded a 246 (87-78-81) and finished in a 62nd-place stalemate.
Kylie Ray tied
for 92nd with a 261 (86-87-88), and Ines Pantoli rounded
out the Eagle quintet in 100th place (315, 100-95-120).
The tournament was hosted by Ocotillo Golf Club, which will also
play host to the Big Sky Championship from April 20-22. All nine
league schools also participated in this week's event, and Northern
Arizona ended up taking home the team crown, outlasting Fresno
State by one stroke. Montana State's Kelly Gillum was named the
individual winner after earning a scorecard playoff decision over
NAU's Bethany Leclair.
