The Eastern Washington University women's golf team is now off to a resounding 10-0 start against Big Sky Conference opposition following a nice showing at the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational. As a team, the Eagles shot a 918 (306-298-314) to finish in an 11th-place tie and outpacing a quartet of league opponents.
The tournament took place on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 1 and 2) at the Omni Interlocken Resort Golf Club in Broomfield, Colo.
Chloe Nelson had the top set of performances for the Eagles, shooting the team's lowest score in each round and finishing with a 219 (74-71-74). Her score placed her in a third-place tie, just three strokes off second and five from the individual champion, Kayla Morinaga of Portland State.
Eastern outpaced four Big Sky Conference schools at the competition: Portland State (t14th, 926), Northern Colorado (17th, 945), Montana State (19th, 966) and Weber State (20th, 970).
Next up for Eastern is the Aztec Classic from Oct. 15-16. That will take place at the Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista, Calif.
