The Eastern Washington University women's golf team finished ahead of three Big Sky Conference rivals en route to a ninth-place finish at the Heather Farr Memorial Invitational Tuesday (Oct. 3) at the Omni Interlocken Golf Club in Broomfield, Colo.
With a three-round total of 932, Eastern finished ahead of fellow Big Sky members Portland State (12th; 948), Weber State (15th; 976) and Montana State (16th; 991). That gives the Eagles an 11-0 record in head-to-head competition within the league.
Eastern was led by a 20th-place finish of sophomore Chloe Nelson, while junior Marli Mikulecky placed 31st. Both of those golfers have already earned Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week accolades this season.
Nelson finished with a 14-over-par total of 230, with rounds of 78, 76 and 76. Mikulecky sandwiched an even-par 72 around an 80 and an 81 to finish at 233.
Denver won the team title with a 900, four strokes better than runner-up Idaho. Hawaii's Dale Gammie won medalist honors with total of 214, five strokes better than the runner-up.
Eastern continues its fall schedule at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Boise State University on Oct. 9-10.
