Senior Kirsten Fausko of the Eastern Washington University women's soccer team was recognized for her strong performance this past weekend at the 5th Annual Embassy Suites Kick-Off Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. Fausko, a native of Auburn, Wash., was one of two forwards named to the All-Tournament team, which is selected by a panel of coaches, SID's and media members at the event.
Fausko scored her first goal of the season and third of her career in Eastern's narrow 3-1 loss to tournament-champion Robert Morris on Sunday (Aug. 21). She led the Eagles with five shots total on the weekend, three of which were on frame.
"I am really proud of Kirsten. She is certainly deserving of mention on the All-Tournament team," said EWU head coach George Hageage. "She was moving really well throughout the tournament and had a good presence on the field in terms of stepping in front when she knew she had to win the ball. We were able to play off her a lot, especially against Robert Morris, because she made some good adjustments and held the ball for us up top."
Eastern (0-2) will be back in action this weekend for the 2011 Bronco Invite in Boise, Idaho. The Eags take on host and former Big Sky school Boise State on Friday, Aug. 26, followed by a first-ever matchup with Air Force on Sunday, Aug. 28.
