Eastern Holds No. 17 USC to Only Two Goals in Loss

The Eastern Washington University women's soccer team put up a tough fight against No. 17 ranked Southern California (5-1-1), but was shut-out 2-0 in Los Angeles on Friday (Sept. 15).

This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams and the Eagles were able to keep the game as a scoreless tie at halftime. The Trojans scored their goals at 60:44 and 73:05 in the second half.

Eagle senior goalkeeper Tiera Como recorded 11 saves for the Eagles as USC took 24 shots. With those 11 saves, Como now has 336 in her career to bring her within 15 of breaking the school record of 350.

The only shot for the Eagles was by Kit Rood in the second half.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Eagles as they try to record their first-ever victory against the Pacific 10 Conference. Now 0-10 against the Pac-10, EWU hosts Oregon on Sunday (Sept. 17) at 1 p.m. in Cheney. Eastern then hosts 23rd-ranked Long Beach State on Sept. 22 at 4 p.m.
