Season Ends for Soccer With 1-0 Loss to Montana

The Eastern Washington University soccer team concluded its 2006 season with a 1-0 loss to Montana Sunday (Oct. 29).

Kristina Lamberty scored the lone goal of the game for the Grizzlies in the 74th minute off an assist by Carrie Lee when the ball bounced off a defender and Lamberty scored in the open net.

Before the match, EWU honored all eight seniors on this year's team: Cat Baller, Caitlin Braun, Gwen Burgess, Tiera Como, Kai Gregersen, Jennifer McMullen, Kim Robinson, and Kelsey Tufnail.

Goalkeeper Tiera Como, who holds four Eastern records and has also earned seven Big Sky player of the week honors, one first team BSC and is on her way to her fourth-straight Big Sky Conference Team All-Academic award. Kelsey Tufnail and Jennifer McMullen have each won this award twice. The seniors have earned eight total Big Sky All-Academic honors.

Como recorded ten saves for the match as the Eagles were out-shot 20-12 for the match. The Grizzlies out-shot Eastern 13-4 in the first half and Eastern out-shot them 8-7 in the second half.

The Eagles end the year at 5-13-1 overall and 1-6-0 in the Big Sky Conference.
