Eastern hosts three-day tourney featuring more than 50 players, including 11 Eagles
After a successful home opener for the men, the Eastern Washington University women's tennis team will now take to the courts, as it hosts EWU Fall Women's Classic Friday (Sept. 30) - Sunday (Oct. 2) in Cheney, Wash.
The Eagles opened their season last weekend at the Cougar Classic in Pullman, where each player on the squad recorded at least one win.
"This weekend in our home opener, I am just looking for the team to continue the work they did last week at Wazzu," said EWU associate head women's coach Mykala Hedberg. "I want to see them take some of the things they learned in those matches and the things we have worked on in practice, and put it into action this weekend."
The tournament will feature individuals from a variety of familiar teams, including Gonzaga, Washington State, Idaho, Seattle U and Big Sky rivals Montana and Montana State.
There are four separate singles flights, with a consolation bracket for each, and one doubles flight. Match play will begin at 10 a.m. Friday and continue on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. both days.
