Eagles Fall to Montana State 5-2

March 30, 2008

The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision in a Big Sky Conference match versus Montana State on Sunday morning (March 30). Kerstyn Dolack had the best set of performances for Eastern, as she won both her singles and doubles matches.

EWU claimed the doubles point on the strength of an 8-3 win by Dolack and Rachel Berger on court three and a clutch 9-8 (7-2) win at No. 1 by Kasey Knox and Amanda Mankovits.

Unfortunately for Eastern, the Eagles were unable to sustain that momentum once singles matches commenced. Dolack did pull out a tight 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) win at 2, while Knox played well in a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2) loss on court one.

The Eagles (8-9, 4-3 BSC) will now take 10 days off from competition before returning to action with a home contest versus Spokane-area rival Gonzaga on April 10. Eastern Washington defeated the Bulldogs (6-11) by a 5-2 score in the teams' encounter in Spokane on Feb. 20.
