Sept. 23, 2007
The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team wrapped up its first tournament of the season on Sunday (Sept. 23), the final day of the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash.
"Kasey Knox was back in peak performance with singles and doubles wins," interim head coach Darren Haworth said. "Rachel Berger rallied from behind to upend the number three player from Idaho. Sarah Leuenberger made an amazing comeback from 6-0, 5-1 down to eventually lose 7-5 in the third. Kerstyn Dolack had match points in her loss."
Kasey Knox was the only Eagle to go 2-0 on the day, topping Portland's Lindsey Griffin in singles play, 6-3, 7-5, and teaming with Amanda Mankovits to down Gonzaga's duo of Emily Anderson and Aglaya Kokurina, 8-5. Rachel Berger lost the first set to Idaho's Yvette Ly before rallying for her 4-6, 6-0, (11-9) win.
The Eagles will get right back to action at the end of the week, playing host to the EWU/GU Invite in Cheney from Friday-Sunday (Sept. 28-30).
