Eastern Women's Tennis Signs Two Players
Nov. 25, 2008
Two players have signed letters of intent to attend Eastern Washington University and play for the women’s tennis squad, head coach Darren Haworth announced. The signees, Chelsea Patton and Ryann Warner, will begin their Eastern careers in 2009-10.
Patton placed third in the singles competition of the 2008 5A Idaho state tournament while playing for Boise High School. The year before, she was third in mixed doubles.
“Chelsea has a very fine-tuned game that will only get better here at EWU,” Haworth said.
Warner, from Colorado Springs, Colo., played her high school tennis at Pine Creek High School. While there, she placed fifth at the 5A state tournament as a junior and was third as a sophomore. Warner also earned first team All-Colorado Springs Gazette in singles.
“Ryann has wins over some really strong junior players, and I expect her game to flourish at the Division I level,” Haworth said.
“We are very excited about signing Chelsea and Ryann. We expect both of them to make an immediate impact in both our singles and doubles lineups.”
