2008 Cross Country: Nickelson finished 16th at the Big Sky Conference Championships with a time of 17:53.8. She went on to compete at the NCAA West Regionals where she finished 166th with a time of 23:16.14. She was named Big Sky All-Academic for cross country.

2007-08: Nickelson finished ninth in the 5,000 meters at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships with a career-best time of 18:44.66. She finished sixth at the Husky Classic with a career-best time of 10:39.05 in the 3,000 meters. Outdoors, Nickelson finished seventh in the 10,000 meters with a time of 39:33.49 and ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:54.41 at the Big Sky Conference Championships. She had career bests in the 1,500 with a time of 4:54.82 and in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:22.30. She was Big Sky All-Academic indoors and outdoors.

2007 Cross Country: Nickelson placed 26th at the Big Sky Conference Championships (19:04.10) and was 118th at the NCAA West Regional Championships (22:37.25). She was named Big Sky All-Academic for cross country.

2006-07: She was 19th at the 2006 Big Sky Cross Country Championships (18:28.00). Indoors, she ran the 3,000 in 11:04.53 at the McDonald's Open. Outdoors, her top 5,000 time came at the Vandal Outdoor Jamboree (19:02.40). Nickelson was named Big Sky Conference All-Academic for cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field.

2005-06: In cross country, she was 44th at the EWU Invitational (22:49.00). She was not one of the seven members to compete at the conference championships. Her time of 3:15.43 in the 1,000 at the Jerry Martin Indoor Invitational (indoors) is the 10th-fastest in EWU history.
