California native honored for strong play in Malibu
Senior Allison Reinstein of the Eastern Washington University volleyball team was one of six elite athletes named to the Pepperdine Asics Classic All-Tournament Team, announced Saturday (Sept. 4) by the tournament committee.
Reinstein recorded the best attack percentage on the Eagle squad at .219 (12-5-32), while also leading the team at the net with five total blocks. The Livermore, Calif., native averaged 1.33 kills per set over the weekend, and tallied three service aces. The Eagles finished fourth in the tournament behind champion Missouri, runner-up Pepperdine and the third-place team from Rice.
Missouri’s Paola Ampudia was named tournament MVP after totaling 50 kills on .261 hitting. She was joined on the list by teammate Molly Kreklow, who had 136 total assists for a 13.60 assist per set average. Pepperdine’s Lilla Frederick and Victoria Adelhelm were also all-tournament team selections, as was Rice’s Ashleigh McCord.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday (Sept. 9) when they take on Washington State at 7 p.m. at the Nike Cougar Challenge in Pullman, Wash.
