Space Still Available for the 2012 Eagle Volleyball Summer Camp, Register Now
A few spots still remain for the 2012 Eagle Volleyball Skills Camp and Team Camp, held on the campus of Eastern Washington University. The skills camp, geared toward female volleyball players ages 12-18, will run from July 9-11 at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash. Cost for the camp is $220 for day campers and $320 for residential.Team Camp will take place the following week July 16-18

Eagle Volleyball Announces an Action-Packed Schedule for 2012
With three early-season tournaments and two new conference foes in the mix, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team has a chock-full schedule for the upcoming 2012 campaign.The Eagles will play a total of 31 regular-season matches, and that's at least two more than they've played each year in the last decade. Eastern has 11 non-conference duels and 20 within the Big Sky Conference.

Eastern Volleyball Launches Second Edition of “Play to Stay” Fundraiser
With the 2011-12 school year winding down, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team will now turn its attention to a special fundraising effort in the upcoming season. As of Friday (June 1), the Eagles have officially launched the second edition of their “Play to Stay” Fundraiser, which features a grand prize valued at more than $6,000. And this year, the raffle also includes a second-place prize valued at more than $1,500.

Eagle Volleyball Adds Talented 6-1 Outside Hitter for 2012
After a successful prep career at Puyallup (Wash.) High School, Allie Schumacher will be bringing her talents to the east side of the state when she joins the Eastern Washington University volleyball team in Cheney next fall. Schumacher, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, was a standout with the Puyallup Vikings, while also earning a great deal of success as a junior beach volleyball player.

After a few weeks of hard work in the gym and on the field, the Eastern Washington University volleyball and soccer teams will have a chance to showcase their skills to the fans this Saturday (April 28) when they host home scrimmages as part of the 31st Annual Orland Killin weekend at EWU. Both scrimmages are FREE and open to the public.

54 Selected to Fall All-Academic Team
A total of 54 Eastern Washington University student-athletes have been honored on the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for fall quarter 2011. Of the total, 18 were from women's soccer, 16 from football, 10 from volleyball, seven from women's cross country and three from men's cross country.

The Eastern Washington University volleyball team recently held its annual awards party to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2011 season. Eagle Volleyball Announces 2012 Summer Camp Dates
Eastern Washington University volleyball has set the dates for the 2012 Eagle Volleyball Summer Camps!The Individual Camp, which focuses on specific positions and related skills, will be July 9-11. Cost is $220 for day campers and $340 for residential. The Team Camp will be held July 16-18, and will provide an opportunity for squads to work directly with coaches and camp counselors on different rotations and team tactics that will prepare them for the upcoming season.

Stott Center in Portland, Ore.

Kellerman and Puckett Garner All-Conference Honors
In her first year back on the court after redshirting the 2010 season, junior Cora Kellerman of the Eastern Washington University volleyball team made an undeniable impact. In a vote of the league’s head coaches, the 6-foot outside hitter was one of six elite athletes named to the esteemed All-Big Sky Conference First Team, which was announced Thursday (Nov. 24) by the league office.

The Eastern Washington University volleyball team closed out the 2011 regular season with a tough 3-2 loss to the Hornets of Sacramento State on Friday (Nov. 18) in Cheney, Wash. Eastern (13-14, 9-7) has earned the fourth seed in the Big Sky Conference tournament, and will play No. 1 seed Northern Colorado on Friday (Nov. 25) at 5:30 p.m. at the Peter W. The Eastern Washington University volleyball team could not get past the Vikings of Portland State on Saturday (Nov. 12) at Reese Court, but the Eagles were able to celebrate a different accomplishment earlier in the day. By virtue of other results around the conference, Eastern clinched a spot in the 2011 Big Sky Conference tournament.

Eagle Volleyball Inks 6-4 Middle Blocker
After adding five players who all stand at 6-feet or taller in 2011, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team has added more size and skill for 2012. Allison Doerpinghaus, a 6-4 middle blocker out of Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif., has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Eastern.

Fight for Postseason Continues, as Eagles Host Portland State Saturday
Only two weeks remain in the Big Sky Conference season, and there are still seven teams vying for four coveted spots in the postseason tourney. The Eastern Washington University volleyball team is currently in third place in the league standings with a 9-5 record. The one team it plays this weekend, Portland State, is in second at 10-4. The Eagles host PSU on Saturday (Nov. 12) at 7 p.m. on Reese Court.

Eagles Swept By Northern Colorado
After a big win against Northern Arizona on Thursday, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team faltered in the second stop of its final road trip of the Big Sky season, as the Eagles dropped a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-23) decision to Northern Colorado on Saturday (Nov. 5) in Greeley, Colo. With the win, UNC remains atop the Big Sky standings at 10-3, while Eastern drops to third with a 9-5 conference record.

In a dramatic Big Sky Conference showdown on Thursday (Nov. 3) in Flagstaff, Ariz., the Eastern Washington University women’s volleyball team avoided a repeat of the heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Northern Arizona on Oct.1. In that devastating contest at Reese Court, the Lumberjacks rallied from a two-sets-to-none deficit to beat the Eagles in five.

Kellerman Garners Second POW Honor of Season
For the second time this season, Cora Kellerman of the Eastern Washington University volleyball team was tabbed as the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, announced Monday (Oct. 31) by the league office. The junior from La Conner, Wash., led Eastern to two wins against Montana and Montana State, as the Eagles (12-11, 8-4 Big Sky) now sit comfortably in third place in the Big Sky standings.

This season has been a collection of streaks for the Eastern Washington University volleyball team. For the third time in as many meetings, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team outlasted the Montana Grizzlies in five nail-biting sets. With the 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 14-25, 15-8) victory on Friday (Oct. 28) at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash., the effectively swept the regular-season series with Montana, while also earning their 16th-straight win over the Griz at Reese Court.

Q&A: Volleyball Player Kelsey Julian
Eastern Washington University volleyball player Kelsey Julian has certainly made the most of her opportunity to be part of a Division I program. A three-sport athlete out of Kennewick (Wash.) High School, Julian was not heavily recruited for volleyball. She had a few offers from Division II schools, but her dream of a future in the sport remained at the Division I level.

Eastern and ISU are now tied for fourth in the Big Sky standings with a matching 5-4 league record.

Eagles Blanked by Sac State
The Eastern Washington University volleyball team suffered its first sweep of the Big Sky season, as Sacramento State defeated the Eagles, 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) on Saturday (Oct. 8) at Colberg Court Sacramento, Calif. The loss was Eastern’s fourth-straight, as the team is now 8-10 on the season and 4-3 in Big Sky action. The Hornets improved to 11-9 in the 2011 campaign and moved into a tie with Northern Colorado for the top spot in the conference standings with a 5-1 league record.

Eastern (8-9, 2-2 Big Sky) put up a respectable fight in the first two sets, which featured a combined 13 ties and four lead changes. But after the break, Idaho ran away with match.

The loss dropped the Eagles to a 3-4 overall record, but they certainly put up a fight worth talking about against a team from arguably the best volleyball conference in the nation -- the Pac-12.

Eagles Swept by Cal State Fullerton in First Match of Wildcat Classic
In every match thus far in the 2011 season, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team has significantly out-blocked its opponent. The story was no different on Friday (Sept. 2) afternoon when Eastern played Cal State Fullerton in its first of three matches at the Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz. But despite a 10.5-4 edge in total team blocks, the Eagles could not get past CSF, as the Titans won, 3-0 (25-20-25-16-25-20).

In its first four-set match of the year, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team defeated Presbyterian College, 25-23, 25-16, 15-25, 26-24, on Friday (Sept. 2) at the Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz. With the win, Eastern evened its season record to 3-3, while the Blue Hose lost its fourth-straight to open the 2011 campaign.

Eastern also beat Washington State in five sets during its season-opening tournament last weekend in Seattle, Wash.

The Eastern Washington University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19) loss at the hands of Seattle University on Friday (Aug. 26) at the Seattle U Fall Volley in Seattle, Wash. The Eagles managed to out-block their opponent by three and the digs by each team were nearly identical, but a surfeit of unforced errors by EWU enabled the home team to come away with the sweep.

Eagles Officially Kick Off 2011 Campaign this Weekend in Seattle
For the second year in a row, the Eastern Washington University volleyball team will open its season with a trio of matches on the Westside. The Eagles head to Seattle, Wash., for the Seattle University Fall Volley, where they will face host Seattle, Washington State and Santa Clara. Eastern plays SU on Friday (Aug. 28) at 11 a.m., and then takes on WSU and SCU in back-to-back matches at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 27).

Eagles Outlast Alumni, 3-2
The Eastern Washington University volleyball team was put to the test on Saturday (Aug. 20) in the annual Alumni Scrimmage at Reese Court, but after five competitive sets, the 2011 Eagles took home the glory.Eastern had three set points in the opening frame, but back-to-back kills and a block by the alumni enabled them to snatch the set 26-24. Eastern rebounded with a 25-20 victory in the second and 25-21 win in the third, but the alumni answered with a very narrow 28-26 win in the fourth.

Wright Lays Claim to 2011 Emtman Award
Sophomore Ashley Wright of the Eastern Washington University volleyball team was selected as the 2011 recipient of the Emtman award - an honor bestowed to one volleyball student-athlete who exhibits a strong work ethic, perseverance, character and a team-first attitude during the spring season. The award is administered by EWU head strength and conditioning coach, Nate Brookreson.

Kydd Completes 2011 Recruiting Class with Barfield and Randles
The five members of the 2011 Eagle volleyball recruiting class all have one thing in common -- size. Eastern Washington University head volleyball coach Miles Kydd had a mission this year to find quality athletes who could win battles at the net. With an average height of 6-foot-2, his 2011 recruiting class certainly has the potential to do just that.

Eagle Volleyball Announces 2011 Schedule
Not since 2004 has the Eastern Washington University women’s volleyball had the privilege of playing at Reese Court before the start of the Big Sky Conference season. Well, that drought will end in the upcoming 2011 campaign. Head coach Miles Kydd has released his 2011 lineup, and it includes a game in Cheney against Boise State on Aug. 31.

Eagle Volleyball Adds Three to 2011 Roster
Eastern Washington head volleyball coach Miles Kydd announced the signing of two prep players and one junior college standout to national letters of intent. Brandy Iverson (Graham, Wash.), Talia Fermantez (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Amanda Brown (Hacienda Heights, Calif.), will begin their careers at Eastern in the 2011-12 academic year.
