The sophomore outside hitter led EWU with 51 kills while hitting .330 in Eastern's four matches
Sophomore outside hitter Allie Schumacher has earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors after leading the Eastern Washington women's volleyball team to a pair of wins last week, announced by the conference office Monday, Sept. 9.
Schumacher hit .330 (51-14-112) on the week, reaching double-digit kills in three of Eastern's four matches. She tallied a season-high 19 kills against South Dakota, and her 12 digs against USD was one off her career high.
The Puyallup native opened the week with a team-best 10 kills in the Eagles' road sweep of Seattle. She hit .500 (10-1-18) to pace the squad, and added a dig and a block assist.
Schumacher continued her stellar play into the weekend at the Cougar Challenge in Pullman, Wash., recording double-figure kills in two of EWU's three matches. Against host Washington State, she tallied six kills and three digs, adding a block assists versus the PAC-12 school.
In Eastern's match against South Dakota, Schumacher notched her first double-double of the season, recording 19 kills and 12 digs. She hit .353 (19-7-34) against the Coyotes and added three block assists.
Schumacher was pivotal in the Eagles' four-set win over Texas Tech on Saturday, leading the team with 16 kills while tallying eight digs and three block assists.
EWU hits the road this week for the final time before Big Sky play begins next weekend. Eastern will take on San Jose State on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. before playing three matches at the San Diego Tournament over the weekend.
