After a stellar sophomore campaign, sophomore outside hitter Allie Schumacher has earned All-Big Sky Honorable Mention honors, announced by the league office Thursday, Nov. 28.
The Puyallup native was a force on the left side this season for the Eastern Washington women's volleyball team, averaging a team-high 2.72 kills per set while hitting at a .176 clip. She also finished fourth on the team in digs per set with an average of 1.82 and blocks per set with an average of 0.48.
Schumacher led Eastern in kills 14 times during the year, reaching double-figure kills in 13 outings. She had a season-high 24 kills in EWU's five-set win over Sacramento State on Sept. 19. She finished with She finished with a team-high six double-doubles this season.
She also notched double-figure digs in nine matches, leading the Eagles in digs in five matches. Also a threat from the service line, she set a new career high with five aces in Eastern's five-set win over Montana State on Sept. 26.
She picked up Big Sky Player of the Week honors following the Eagles' stretch of four matches back in September. She hit .330 (51-14-112) for the week, reaching double-digit kills in three of Eastern's four matches. Schumacher was pivotal in EWU's four-set win over Texas Tech at the Cougar Challenge in Pullman, Wash., leading EWU with 16 kills while tallying eight digs and three block assists.
