Walker, a veteran of EWU volleyball, enters his seventh year with the program. He served as a volunteer assistant for two seasons before being named an assistant coach in 2008.
Over the past six seasons, Walker has been involved with nearly every aspect of the program. He specializes in training and in-game coaching of the defensive specialists, and is also directly involved with the scouting and recruiting efforts of the team.
With his help, EWU was one of the best digging teams in the Big Sky last season, averaging 16.57 per set, which also ranked in the top 60 nationally. Walker protégé Lindsey Petroni set the school record for the most 30-dig matches in a career with seven, while her career average of 3.56 digs per set ranks fourth all-time at EWU.
Along with his duties as assistant coach at Eastern, Walker has served as head coach with various teams of the Spokane Splash Volleyball Club since 2006.
From 2002-03, he was a head coach with the Timberlake Volleyball Club, based in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Prior to that, Walker was a volunteer assistant coach for the Gonzaga Prep freshman team.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Gonzaga University in 2002.
Fiancée Anna Goodale is a former member of the USA Rowing team. She is a five-time World Champion and won a Gold Medal in the Women’s 8+ at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Walker and Goodale are expecting their first child in November, but are practicing parenting now with their Ecuadorian-born, Akita/Shepard mix puppy named Quena.
