With just one more non-conference tune-up before Big Sky Conference play, the Eastern Washington University women's volleyball team concluded an eight-match road trip with a 3-0 sweep over Rider Monday (Sept. 4) in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The Eagles, now 7-1 on the season with a five-match winning streak, swept the 2-6 Broncs 30-21, 30-20, 30-28. Eastern plays at Gonzaga on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. before opening conference play on the road at Idaho State and Portland State.

Senior Brittney Page led the way with 10 kills and five blocks, and Chrystal Johnson and Addie Webster added eight kills each. Webster also had 11 digs and Kristen Ponce finished with 17 digs.

Eagle setter Amanda Yausie had 15 assists and four service aces and Ashley Gandauli chipped in 17 assists.

Eastern out-hit Rider .194 to .022. The Eagles hit .293 in the first game, then held Rider to a negative .226 percentage in the second game.

Eastern played eight matches in 11 days on the road trip, and its seven victories included six sweeps. Eastern finished the road trip 21-4 in games played, and currently has a 15-game winning streak.

The lone match Eastern has lost thus far was a 3-0 setback to host Wichita State in the Best Western Volleyball Classic in Wichita, Kan.. The Shockers were 28-3 a year ago and are currently 6-1 with their lone loss to 25th-ranked Kansas State.
