Final Stats

The Eastern Washington University volleyball team defeated Northern Arizona 3-1 on Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz., by scores of 22-30, 30-27, 30-17, and 30-19. With the win, the Eagles clinched a spot in the Big Sky Conference Tournament for the 11th straight year.

Going into the match, the Eagles (16-8, 8-6) were tied for fourth place with Northern Colorado in the BSC standings at 7-6. With EWU's win and UNCs loss to Portland State, the Eagles have taken sole possession of fourth place and are just a half a match back of Montana (12-12, 9-5) for third place.

"We knew we were going to the BSC Tournament but we just didn't know what place we were going to get. We still don't kno,w but we do have a chance to get third and that's great," said head coach Wade Benson.

Addie Webster recorded her ninth-straight double double with 15 kills and 15 digs. Kerri Beck and Chrystal Johnson also recorded 15 kills each for the Eagles.

Mandy Daniels once again led the Eagles in digs with 24 and Amanda Yausie had 48 assists.

The game scores for this match were almost identical to those of the Northern Colorado match played just two days earlier. The Eagles also won that match 3-1, with scores of 22-30, 30-27, 30-19 and 30-17.

"Playing on the road isn't easy. To lose the first game and to come back and dominate the rest is a good sign," Benson added. "We showed a lot of maturity and we didn't panic."

Eastern recorded 11 blocks to just eight for Northern Arizona and out hit them .288 to .159 for the match.

The Eagles will host Montana State on Thursday (Nov. 9) at 7:05 p.m., and Montana on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 8:05 p.m. Both matches will be played at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash. Eastern will honor five seniors before the Montana match for senior night. Eastern defeated both teams on the road earlier in the season.
